Yeah, This is sorta like life with Lexus, too. That dang dog. She minds her dad to the point of not leaving his side while on a walk. Even without a lead.
But with me? Oh no. that's her favorite walk, because you'd think she didn't know how to mind anybody. It's more like she takes me for a walk. Crazy dog. :/
Boxer: Maddie had a barking fit when she heard it. She reacts to the radio and television too. Either she's very, very smart, or very, very stupid :o)
Dani: Oh, you bet! We have purchased whole houses around our dogs!
Kym: Ivan is a happy wanderer. All our other dogs we've been able to walk off lead just about anywhere, but Ivan, you gotta really ride herd on or he'll just follow his bliss. One good thing, though, dog's got an incredible sense of direction. We just leave the gate open; he eventually makes his way back home.
kym: Much better, thanks! I took Melatonin for a few nights in a row. That put me right to sleep, but I still woke up on and off throughout the night. Then, it turned really cold and I started sleeping like a baby. Have been doing so ever since. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever had sleep problems in the winter.
Shamu: No doggie parks out here. Plus, the Ivanator? He's built for tumbling. He will never, ever start a fight, but if you're rude to him, it's on. He goes completely off the other dog's temperament.
I love the nature of such critters, so long as they aren't my critters. If even when my critters choose otherwise, I grin at their audacity secretly in my mind. Ha! Squeaky toy? No! Freedom!
K9: A Trout Scout! Happy Halloween and Day of the Dead! Did you do an altar?
Doom: Elizabeth Marshall Thomas wrote a wonderful book called the Hidden Life of Dogs in which she talked about a Malamute she babysat for some time in Cambridge. Every evening, she'd let the Malamute out to go do is wanderings. Every morning he was back. One night, she decided to follow him on a bicycle and discovered the most amazing things: he was traffic savvy, for instance; he also had people he met up, and a dog girlfriend who'd join him on occasion. What a marvelous way to let a dog "be." But nowadays, we require mostly of dogs that they be little Disneyfied couch potatoes. Woe unto any dog that actually acts like one.

it got Coco's attention.
Happy Friday!
I'm learning real quick that life is much different with a dog in it!

That's why I love the massive dog park. All of us happy wanderers to our heart's content.
