Hey not to change the subject, but while I was waiting in the dr's office the other day, ran across a letter to the editor in National Geographic talking about a photo of a PREYING MANTIS EATING A HUMMINGBIRD. And immediately thought of you and your pic. So I looked it up tonight to find the pic referenced in National Geographic. Ack! Haven't seen any dead hummingbirds around, have you? Who knew it really was such a smack-down?
Pam: Good ear! When I first heard it, I thought it was a White Stripes cover.
Eggy: It closed an episode of the HBO show Hung a couple weeks ago. I knew it was an old jazz standard (Louis Prima wrote it, I think) so I Googled the HBO Web site, which is very good about listing the music used in its shows. Only info on this guy is on his MySpace page, but You Tube has a couple of his videos. As for my tastes, I have always been nuts for music of all kinds, is the only way I can explain it.
Pam: Now, that's bizarre. Yesterday, while refilling the hummer feeder, I found one dead-stiff underneath on the ground and wondered how it could have possibly died. I find it unbelievable that a prey mantis could catch and kill one, but National Geographic is a pretty reliable source. Yikes!
I searched again for preying mantis/hummingbird and there are several references about it! Who knew!?! I had never heard of it either, but you might have to be a little more vigilant of your bird feeder! I suppose they are called "preying" for a reason.
Love the neon - I think it's S.F. because I recognized some of the signs. Cool car too and a great song. Thanks.
I've researched songs at the end of Entourage and Sopranos in the past, it's a great way to find unusual music.
(are you watching Entourage? pffftttttt bad season.)

Pam: Yup. It seems to be one of those freakishly sad-but-true facts of nature.
Boxer: The ONLY cool thing about Entourage these past couple seasons is the fact that the Jane's Addiction song still opens up the show. Otherwise, what a piece of scheisse that thing's turned into.
