This ain't no Mudd Club. No CBGB's.
We don't have time for that now.

I invented the NY New Wave era.

Can't agree with you more and as a a big fan of the 80's New Wave music, I had no idea how much of it came out of NYC.

I played that Blondie album so much, my roommate actually took it away from me.

Some classic new wave came out of New York like Blondie and the Talking Heads. The Ramones, best punk group EVER. I saw them in concert when I was in college. A wild time - what I remeber of it.

Happy MM!

Al: I got some groceries, some peanut butter, to last a couple of days. But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no headphones, ain't got no records to play.

Boxer: Stars live in the evening. But the very young, need the sun.

Buzz: They're forming in a straight line. They're going through a tight wind. The kids are losing their minds.

Now you're talking. My hometown. And you lead it off with one of the seminal albums of all time (even though when people talk of the thousands of bands that are down the family tree from the Velvets, as far as I'm concerned, the sound they are talking about comes much more from White Light/White Heat or even '69 Live). And the liner notes from '69 Live have one of the greatest statements of all time: When the Velvets were around, only a few hundred people bought their albums, but every one who did started a band. And as much as I think Lou Reed is one of the greats, John Cale is even better.

Moi! The Velvets and the Refreshments. There is hope yet.

Debbie Harry wrote "Atomic" about me. Also "The Hardest Part".

And "Eat to the Beat" about Tipper.

all these NY posts have been fun, but this is my fave so far. I was gonna do a similar thing with songs about New York, but my inner tomboy got the better of me. :D

Happy MM!!

Czar: Everyone who ever had a heart. They wouldn't turn around and break it. And anyone who ever played a part. Wouldn't turn around and hate it.

K9: When love is gone, there's always justice. And when justice is gone, there's always force.

Al: Hey, you got a tummy ache and I remember sitting in the bathroom drinking Alka Seltzer.

kmwthay:I told you one and one make three – I'm the cult of personality.

Making me homesick here.

Oh, and by the way NYD does not equal New York Dolls - Too bad. I am a lot prettier than David Johanson
