Not sure what to say about this one. I've got nothing to hide so I'm good with it.

Happy MM!

It doesn't matter that I have nothing to hide. It matters that I have a RIGHT to my privacy. It matters that these laws were not temporary as originally described.

Happy Mute Monday

What bothers me is a government that seems to spend more time coming up with cutesy freaking acronyms than trying to run a decent joint.

HA, such a great point to make. Happy MM, while we can still have them, before our liberty is indeed taken away.

The Patriot Act, eh. It was never abused before but it probably is being abused now.

This heah is a tough topic. The world is changed such that evil ain't even ashamed to be evil, in fact, wallows in itself.

What weapons is needed against that???

A dangerous weapon, thas' what. Trouble is, a dangerous weapon in the hands of good folks wif' a moral conscience is one thang. A dangerous weapon in the hands of power crazed dweebs who use it on political enemies is worse than the original threat.

Ya make us think on MM????

Good theme.

You know what made our founding so revolutionary? The fact that for the first time in civilized human existence, a government was established in which all its citizens are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Innocent until PROVEN guilty, Party People. Think about how radical a notion that is.

That means that our government recognized that we are all free and equal under the law – that human nature is essentially good and that people are essentially law abiding and responsible, UNTIL we are proven by a jury of our peers not to be.

Does our judicial system work perfectly 100 percent of the time? No. Do criminals slip through the cracks on occasion? Yes. Can we keep everyone 100 percent safe 100 percent of the time? No. But the attempt to reach 100 percent safety can only result in 100 percent tyranny.

You pay your money, you take your chances. I'd rather gamble on liberty, thank you very much.

'Cause that was the last time you fit into a reasonably-sized suit?

Dumb ass conservatives needing to learn an old lesson. Be careful what powers you give to those in charge 'cause sure enough, someone you don't like eventually will be in charge.
I try to teach this one to my wife too...but being a liberal, she's completely immune to the idea that government might do something bad with their power.
When stupid things come from the feds, she's convinced it's because Bush was an idiot and if she could just get some smart statist in office, good things would start to come.
Just give absolute power to smart/compassionate people. It'll be alright...really.

Dumb ass.

If you've "got nothing to hide" you're not living life right.
