True Devil's Tower story: SB and I climbed it three years ago. Well, attempted to. After suffering two days in South Dakota during freakin' STRUGIS (you bike people, I DO NOT want to hear it), getting up at 3:00 in the morning, driving two hours into Wyoming, and then making the toughest 4.0 approach (with ropes) in the known universe, we managed to bully our way up the first two 5.bazillion-rated pitches. After which, perched on a square foot of ledge five gazillion miles above civilization, cranky, exhausted, and scared peeless (but neither of us letting on), it started to rain. And rain. And then rain some more. That's it, said the dude leading the climb, off the mountain for us. So we rappelled our way down, relieved as all get out. Then the dude said to us,"Too bad. Those two were the hardest pitches. The last three are basically walks." D'oh!

StURgis. Sorry. See, I hate that event so much I'm loathe to even spell it correctly.

Oh how I wish I was on top of a mountain this morning singing like Maria Von Trapp. :) I love your interpretation!

Thursday: Ha, that's an awesome visual!

Aunty: You pick yourself up a proper pair yet? :o)

Wicked: Hey, I smell a snow day! Anyway: Sandias, Ranier, Devil's Tower. Wheeler is scheduled for end June, after snow, before monsoon. Kilamanjaro is next year, finances and stable political environment permitting. McKinley, otherwise. Everest? Most likely, never.
