I Been on the Couch Looking for a Bed

And going back through all my Memphis Soul records and iTunes downloads. Found this rare video of the magnificent Ann Peebles singing her hit, "I Can't Stand the Rain," which was funkified into a terrific disco song by Eruption (with lead vocals by the equally magnificent Precious Wilson), which is what Allison SHOULD have sung on this week's American Idol, but oh well. I could rule the world, if only people would return my phone calls.

Happy Funky Friday to you all.

I'd like for Allison to win A.I., but she won't.

Damn that Adam Lambert !!

The Ann Peebles version is more my style, but I must admit that Precious is kicking some disco ass with her version.
Oddly enough, I don't love the Tina Turner version.

I'd love to be able to pick the songs for them. She would have been great at this song. I don't know who is giving them advice but some if it isn't good.

Meanwhile, this week is Rat Pack week evidently ... what do you choose for Allison in that regard? I'm thinking "Luck Be A Lady" ... she could switch that up methinks.

Boxer: If I weren't so musically challenged (it's the math), you can bet I'd for sure be in a funk band. Cheers!

Heff: Allison is my gal, too. The most interesting contestant ev-ah and a real rock 'n' roller. Hey, she could pull a Taylor Hicks and surprise everyone right outta their socks.

Gnome: I don't like Tina's version either. OMG. Did we just actually agree on something musically and does this mean the end of the space/time continuum as we know it?

Pam: Seriously, they oughta hire us next year. Rat Pack, huh? Oh good God. So long as no one forks with "Summer Wind" I should be okay. "Luck Be a Lady" is a good choice for her. "The Lady is a Tramp" or "Fever" would be good, too.

I have a cover of this by a different artist. Until now I thought it was the original.
Awesome clip.
Thanx.

K9: Howdy back at cha. Hope all is going well in your garden!

Al: Yes, but can YOU?

NYD: The song was co-written by Peebles and originally sung by her. There are some good You Tube videos of her original recording.
