Classic surf rock disc. Telstar!
And the Lonely Bull.

You call this a trail?
All I see are trees and rocks.
Wait! Is that a print?

Want to venture forth into the great Haiku unknown?
Head over to Karl's place, our host for this week's meme of 5-7-5.

A floodgate of memories! The Ventures! Surf Rock! The heady days of the Space Race! Thank you!

lx: It was a cool time for just about everything. Do you like Herb Alpert, too? Also very much da bomb.

Oh, mais oui! Our high school band used to play A Taste Of Honey at football pep rallies and games. Everyone would stomp their feet to the drum solo and rock the stands!

My first memory of Herb Albert was when my parents played it on our "stero". I love him. Still do.

Also love your haiku and visual... especially the second one because I think I know you are a super star who will kick ASS on that trail. :-)

The ventures, but of course! What a fitting haiku.

That's one heck of a jogging trail, btw.

Beat me to the music take, Moi. Primo verses, as always.

I've never heard that song. But good haiku. I had an Econ Professor who used to try to entice co-eds into fornication via Herb Alpert on a reel-to-reel stereo system.

It didn't work.

So, he switched to free cocaine. That worked.

Until one of them died.

lx: I now possess our family's original pressing of that album, the one with the girl covered in whipped creme? My parents had to keep it hidden from my brother :o)

Boxer: S.B. is Jonesing to find one of those original stereo consoles for the house. They have now moved, in that way of all things 70's, from tacky to cool. Or, no?

Foam: Someone asked me the other day why I run. I said, "Because it feels really great when I stop." Also, there are donuts.

Czar: Thanks! You should SEE the albums my parents left me. Trini Lopez: also GO!

Ghost: I put university professors in the same category as priests and cops: when they are good, they are great, when they are bad, they are rotten to the core and need to be removed from society toot suite. Luckily, none of my professors drove muscles cars.

Well, I can't listen to the song (I'm in the office) but I know the Ventures. When I think of surf music, I think of the Beach Boys, Dick Dale and the Def-Tones and the Ventures.

And Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, I saw them live back around 1967 in Atlantic City on the boardwalk. I was too young to know what I was listening too, but I remember my parents taking us to the concert (during the day and free). When The Pudge was still playing trumpet (he gave it up a couple of years ago for the guitar) he listened to Herb Alpert and Al Hirt. Now he plays Pink Floyd on guitar - it's a crazy old world.

I LOVE the first one!
The Ventures are one of my faves (and I ALMOST did a haiku of them!)
It takes me right back to summers spent camping by the beach and the hot 8 track! =)

Good afternoon Moi,

WIPE Outttt. I like them both. I had the second one in my mind's eye, yet I had to see the visual to be sure.

Isn't neat how those guys just stood there and played music?

Buzz: Hey, good music is good music! I think trumpet players don't get near the kudos they deserve, though.

Blazng: Music and memory--inextricably tied.

Karl: They were pretty decent musicians, inventing some neat-o type tricks on the guitar as well.

Before you freak out, I am not going to be offended in any way if you don't participate. I've been tagged a few times and not responded.

This is my first time being tagged! And, as far as I'm being told, it's a way to meet new bloggers, highlight and be highlighted. So, let's go for it!

The Rules Are:
1. You must post the rules.
2. Post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
4. Tag eleven bloggers, however, you can break the rules and tag fewer people if you want. Make sure you hyperlink their names/blogs.
5. Let them know you've tagged them!
6. Have fun!

I like the second one A LOT!

The forest seems impenetrable, but when you get up close, you can see the footfalls and can't help your damn self but see where the trail leads.

Awesome!
