I know I sound like a kid but I can't wait to see the Macy's parade each year, schmaltz and all, with the highlight for me is seeing Snoopy! haha! Brings back memories of simpler times and Christmas shopping downtown with my grandma when I was a kid. *sigh*

I'm going to a friend's for dinner and then another one...possibly for leftovers and drinks! What about you? I hope you and hubby and fam and doggies have a wonderful holiday! xoxo

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Our younger son's birthday is tomorrow, and when he was born, we figured we'd go to NYC (where I also have family) each year that his birthday fell on Thanksgiving. It ended up happening only twice during his first 18 years because of leap years and such, but each time we went to the parade -- when he was 2 and when he was 15.

If you ever want to see how friendly New Yorkers are, go watch that parade. Get there at about 7am, and speak with all the happy-go-lucky folks who have been sitting there since 4 in the morning, holding their spots and getting absolutely hammered.

Good afternoon Moi,

You and SB have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Boxer: There's a whole series of them that have that exact kind of creepy/fun tone that you mention.

LaDiva: I almost always watch the parade on television—been doing so since I was a kid. I'm going to two Thanksgivings this year, bringing a side dish to one and two pies to the other. Easy-peasy! Hope you and the DJ have a wonderful time! Smooches!

Czar: My pop, who was born 'n' raised in NYC, has very fond memories of the parade. Unfortunately, I've never caught it in person.

Heff: Hey, man, I hope you and Donna enjoy a rockin' Turkey Day!

Karl: You and Mrs. Karl and all your family and friends, too!

Oh them footwear selections is purrfect. Ahahaha!

Hope youse lollin' about stitchin' or readin' or watchin' ole movies--not runnin'. A girl has to keep her thighs up to playin' weight, 'cause, as Mae-Jean's first husband said...

Chickory: Yesterday was Thanksgiving up in my hometown; tomorrow evening is a dinner party. You know what bugs me, too? The corporatization of sporting events/arenas. The Staples Center. The Energizer Bunny Bowl. Stop, people, just stop!

Aunty: Well, of course I ran this morning! A lovely run in a light drizzle under roiling skies. Gotta keep the wolves at bay, don't cha know. Then I spent all day in the kitchen baking :o)

Moi,
I agree.
There is something deeply egregious
about branding our holidays and our landmarks. I expect any day now someone will offer to increase revenues by leasing our national treasures ... Hershey's National Obelisk, Smuckers Mount of Presidents ...Red Square on Pennsylvania ... ugh!

@Fishy: I proposed recently as a deficit-buster having corporate naming of legislation -- you know, like the Aetna Health Care Reform Act or the Merrill Lynch Investment Company Accountability Act or the AICPA Tax Reform Bill. Why not just get rid of the pretense?

moi said...

Fishy: And it's so OBVIOUSLY ridiculous, can't these companies see that? Just how stupid it is and that it doesn't endear us any further to them or their products?

Czar: ROTFLMAO. That's pretty freakin' brilliant.

As far as I know, Chicago's quaint, vine-covered baseball stadium Wrigley Field is still just Wrigley Field. For now. But Tiger Stadium is now Comerica Park, here in Miami we have the American Airlines Arena and back in L.A. we used to go to the Staples Center for concerts. Ugh.

La Diva: I think you're right. A small ray of hope . . .
