you truly are a rocker girl aren't you? Are they wearing tie-dyed shirts? I watched the whole thing and I can see and hear why it's so very you. Something must have happened to me when I turned 50.... I prefer banger music turned down just a little ... please?
Boxer: I guess the death metal concert I had planned for us on Friday night is out then? Kudos to you for watching the entire thing. The actual recorded song is better, but it's not on the 'tube.
This is the kind of stuff I'd like live, but not just for listening.
@karl: On lyrics. I realized a few years ago that I could probably sing most Beatles songs and quite a few Who songs beginning to end, without a hitch. And even though I've heard the Rolling Stones the same thousands of times over the last 40+ years, I don't think there's a single song of theirs that I could sing from beginning to end, confident that I had the lyrics right. Maybe "Satisfaction" or "Sympathy for the Devil." Or "Angie." "Brown Sugar"? Nope. "Gimme Shelter"? Not a clue.
Now that I'm 50, my perfect album is Brian Eno, Music for Airports. It's like a soundtrack for Thorazine.
I thought I posted earlier today on this, Blogger must have eaten it up. Yep, I'm with Boxie. Too loud for me these days. Unless you are there and in the spirit of the event ... this was too loud for me. Sigh. Must go find Music for Airports. However, I could listen to Gimme Shelter several times a day and never get tired of it.
Karl: I like Beethoven, too. And Brahms. And some Mozart. If it strikes something in me, I'll listen to it. I'm even trying to warm up to gangster rap.
Boxer: I hate the word old. It should only be applied to inanimate objects. Not people. Except when the "people" is in the car ahead of me, doing 25mph and weaving between lanes.
Czar: Very good point. I always look up lyrics anyway. I still listen to Eno. Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, too.
Pam: The Rolling Stones are in heavy rotation on my iPod. I still really like loud and fast—live, radio, old, new. Doesn't matter.(BTW, the radio version of this song is pretty tame.) What gives me a headache is thumping rap bass while on the streets.
Al: Shouldn't you be out speechifiying about the evils of the Fourth on the environment? And ask Troll if this lead singer is or isn't a troll.
I can't listen to Voodoo Child on a Sunday morning when the DJ puts it on...does that mean I'm getting old too? I'll take some Brazilian bossa nova, thanks.
Not sure how I feel about this song yet...doesn't quite grab me. I'm going to ask my sister what she listens to, she likes a lot of the same music as you (and me!) and goes to see bands with names I've never heard of. Detroit actually DOES have great radio.
La Diva: Best thing about Detroit: its music and heritage as birthplace of so many great rock and rollers. Although, notice how they all LEFT? Let me know what you find out from sis and Happy Fourth to you and the DJ!

Good afternoon Moi,
Started on Rock n' Roll
The clash, bang and roar. Now?
Prefer Beethoven.
Perhaps it's the quality of the video. But I couldn't understand a single word sung by the lead vocalist.
You and SB have a happy fourth!
@Boxer: You're getting better and don't you forget it.
looking for the "like" button for Karl's comment to me.
:-)

I wrote that song. And invented you-tube. And the interwebs.
