Thanks for remembering us. Love the graphic. Not sure I get the post title.

Troll: Acting soberly. Without emotion. We can't "win" in Iraq and Afghanistan so the only logical thing to do is get out.

I guess we learned nothing from Vietnam.

Wonderful post and I love that graphic. If there is a coming religious war, put me on the side of "not having to wear a burka" please.

Another Tool reference. Spot on commentary.

the ideal situation would have been to go in and tear the place up -go ahead and execute uday foofay and sadaam. then make a statement: "if we even think your nation has something to do with messing 'merica up -we'll come over and break all your shit and relieve you of your dictatorship. capiche? now. ya'll dont come back here.

i dont know what the mission is anymore. what a mess.

the fort hood thing is not a muslim problem but a failure of western burrocrats who will not see a thing as it is. political correctness kills. its time to acknowledge how things really are.

our government is our mortal enemy. make that double for the soldiers.

thanks moi. i failed to post on it and i regret it.

Boxer: Our ability to blind ourselves to the lessons of history is pretty remarkable. This has had "no win" written all over it since about five minutes after we got over there.

Pam: Don't get me wrong: my opposition to this military action does not mean I don't believe wholeheartedly that fundamentalism is dangerous. But it should only be battled in self-defense, where there is clear evidence of our being in immediate danger. I have seen women wearing burkas and it makes me ill because it is so clearly a form of tyranny over and oppression of the human spirit. Same thing when I see a fundamental Mormon woman married to fifty gazillion old men and spitting out baby after baby. Same thing when I see good "Christians" spewing their hate against minorities in the name of Jesus. But those folks can do what they want, believe what they want, narrow their universes down to a pin head if that's what makes them feel better, so long as they don't take their act on the road and force those beliefs on everyone else.

Anonymous: Everything I need to learn in life . . . :o)

K9: You betcha. We had an opportunity post 9/11 to act swiftly and righteously. I've said it a hundred times if I've said it once: Bush should have ringy-dingied the Saudi's, said to them: we know your countrymen were behind this attack. You got exactly six months to pull every single yippie skippy jihadist out of the western world, and hand us Bin Laden to boot. You do both those things, and all is copacetic between us until y'all mess up again. You DON'T? We turn your country into a parking lot and commandeer those oil fields, thank you very much. That, I would have supported. That would have been a clearly defined mission and a justified one at that. But this? This is insane.

agreed. thats a great plan. why dont they do that? because protecting american sovereignty is not the mission anymore. this is a debtor nation with an army used to do globalists bidding. and when she is finally broke in blood and treasure, they will have a broken people rolled up in snuggies watching dancing with the stars. we wont be that -but look around. nobody did shit on that bailout. and they wont say where the money is (GS) and they do not care. not on health care not on cap and trade. its pitiful.

On FB yesterday there were all these posts about appreciation for our Vets and some went so far as to say "Happy Vets Day" with little hearts which I found highly inappropriate. If "we" cared so much about our vets, why are so many of them ill, can't get medical treatment, etc? The VA hospitals are a mess. People in this country need to do more than just post crap on FB, if you want to show your appreciation to vets then DO SOMETHING. (and putting a freakin' yellow ribbon on your car is NOT doing something)

Boy, you're sure on a Tool kick lately.

K9: And the ultimate irony is, we're OWNED by China. A communist country. Oh well. At least the food is good.

LaDiva: I hear ya. Bazillions of dollars to bail out banks that we should have let FAIL (hell, even Sweden, a socialist country, knew enough to do that when their crisis hit!), but our care for our vets is piss pour at best. And don't even get me started on ribbons for Le Cause de Jour.

HeatherC: Yes, when I get on a kick, I go all the way. Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent.

We could win anywhere in the world we wished to win, but we won't because we lack the will.
I would normally never advocate a cut and run, but with the pathetic excuse we have for a CIC, and the prospect of 7 more years of the same, I can't see expending lives over a war we have no will to win.
Even now, our people are mere placeholders while the chosen one looks for the least politically damaging way to pull them out. Every one that dies since the asshat in chief took office dies in vain and in the service of his ego and ambition rather than for victory.

The lesson of Vietnam was not to stay away from war, but rather not to let finger in the wind, military despising libs be in charge of our wars.

Oh, and thanks for the thanks.

I agree with a lot of these comments but I'd choose Gnome's as the most salient.

1) Switch to the TROLL PLAN in Iraq to cement our hard-earned gains. And acknowledge that AFTER we abandoned the Powell-Blair plan, things actually went pretty well there.

2) Get the hell out of Afghanistan and ridicule Obama for his oft-repeated bellicose campaign statements that it was "more important" than Iraq. And that we "must win against the real" enemy there in Afghanistan.

3) Point out that the FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY we have a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary-of-State, A Senate Defense Chairman, and a House Defense Chairman with one thing in common. NONE of them ever served the nation in uniform.
