Noises Sounds and Sweet Airs

His bill an auger is,
His head, a cap and frill.
He laboreth at every tree, –
A worm his utmost goal.

Well, Miss Dickinson, that is most awesomely poetic. Normally, I'd be tip-toeing right along with you through nature's splendor, basking in one of those warm and fuzzy, one-with-the-universe-and-all-of-God's-creatures kinds of moods. In fact, I actually was last week when I first took this shot. But then the woodpecker stayed. And stayed. And now, he's gone all Rainman, trying to cull worms out of the vent up on the wall outside my office. Dude. Ixsnay on the etalmay. Go find some wood. Like, next door at the neighbor's.

That is all I have for today. It is one of those days. But if you want some amusement, come visit us at The Bitches of Fashion and answer the question at the end of the post. Boys can play, too, even if they think they can't.

bwahahah to your "middle of nowhere is noisy". We've had a woodpecker on the Island and holy schnizz can they make a quiet Sunday morning sound like a construction sight. Add in some pheasants and fog horns and ... yup... up early again.

I'm not very poetic. Every time I make a noise or sound, it's not a very sweet Air.

Boxer: And then the dogs yet going and, oy. To the Vey.

Chicory: These Downy Woodpeckers are all over the place. They also like to go after the hummingbirds' food, which is a real treat when the Rufous get involved. We also have Northern Flickers who live hereabouts. Talk about BIG!

Heff: Yeah, but you have other charms.

I tried to read the Bitches post. Now I know how muslibs feel when they attempt to study Economics 101.

K9: I'll try to dig up some Flicker photos and send to you.

Troll: There, there. You'll be okay in a few minutes.

I feel your ear pain. We had one of these take up residence on our patio for a weekend once upon a time and we about lost our minds. But once he was gone, we never saw him again, so am hoping you don't have to cut the tree down or take other drastic measures to get rid of Mr. W-pecker.
