Snow Day

After two to three weeks of temps in the 60s and 70s, we woke to this:

About six to eight inches in spots.

While we need the moisture, I would have much preferred it in the form of rain at this point in the year. The roses were budding. The tulips peaking. The lawn greening. Le sigh.

The dogs LOVE it, though.

That's where they were playing. With each other. Can you believe it? I'm so happy for them. We may not be able to teach The Ivanator any new tricks, but he seems perfectly capable of remembering his old ones.

Beautiful pics! I'm sure my Sirius would freak if he was in snow. Your little guy doesn't look to be sitting down completely. I don't like having a cold tushie, either. Unless I'm incorrectly interpreting that last photo.

Wendy: No, she a fussy lil' thang. Spent the rest of the morning pulling snow balls out of her fur. I've never had a dawg with such long-ass hair before. I can tell already I'm going to be sending some dog groomer's kids to Harvard.

Oh I believe. I'm sure that's what I'll be waking up to tomorrow. GRRRRRR.
How cute is that they are playing together? So true about BC hair. Keeping the hair between their toes trimmed is the best bet. Plus the addes bonus of keeping the Ivanator young with a rowdy playmate.

Moi! I'm sorry you got stuck with the snow. It's headed my direction in a hurry. Le Sigh is right. I'm so glad that Maddie and Ivan are happily playing in the snow. My dog loves, loves the cold weather. She loves to sit in the rain, even when it is coming in sideways at 35mph.

Your photos are beautiful.

Happy weekend to you!

85 degrees and Sunny in Troll County. Don't worry, I wore sunblock!

What are those brown things suspenced from hooks? Squirrel carcasses?

Big Shamu said...

Oh man, look at those yummy chilis. Bet the squirrels don't eat those.

Let me say it before Gnomey has the chance:

Global warming? Huh?

I heard it's going to snow-ish in Seattle on Saturday night. As I sit in 85 degree weather, I'm trying to think of a way to stay.

But, those are very cool pictures and I'm glad the dogs love it. are you plants OK?

A little snark re: Al Gore and the chicken little crowd was all I had left in the world, and now you've gone and taken that from me too.

Snow is so pretty when it isn't here.

Shamu: Brace yourself. It was a doozie. As for Maddie, I think she's going to be really good for Ivan. To see the old dog playing again? Amazing.

kmwthay: We had a black Lab once that LOVED the rain. I think he was trying to figure out how to swim in it :o).

Heather: The Ivanator's very selective so this is a big deal for him. And us.

ChefTroll: They're not brown; they're red chiles. That's how we dry them out here – by hanging them this way, on ristras.

Shamu: No, but I'm always chasing garden spiders out from in between the pods.

Boxer: You lucky ducky! I have no idea what's happened to my plants under all that snow. It's too cold to have melted yet, which is a good thing. It will hopefully act as an insulator and not melt off until the temps go above freezing. But sometimes, I lose all spring bloom when this happens.

K9: We are famous for our powdery-textured snow out here. Awesome to ski in.

Gnome: You gotta be quick on a Friday.

Mandy: Sometimes, loving things in the abstract is the only way to go.

that's for your "whiner" comment to me, Gnome!! :-) xoxox.

It must be a lab trait, moi. Mine is a yella lab and happy as a clam to chillax in the rain. The thunder scares her though. Its kinda cute.

Pretty.

Our does went apeshit for the big four inches we had this year. I have to admit, though... it is bizarre thinking of it snowing where you live.

Awww, they are running buddies now. I've always heard dogs sort of do better with a pal; three too many (which I can attest as too many if it is cats btw). We didn't get hardly any of that snow, but it is still spitting over here as of Sat late afternoon.

Boxer: Ya think he's pouting? I hope not.

Al: Against my better judgement, I love that haiku! Can I copy it and put it on my fridge or will you charge me carbon credits to do so?

kmwthay: Aw man, Ivan has thunderstorm phobia big time. And we tend to get some middle of the night doozies in the summer. When all 75 pounds of him starts shaking on the bed, fuggedabout getting any sleep. May as well see what's on Turner Classics and write the next day off.

Meghan: Yeah, dogs go nuts in the snow for some reason. We're hoping this love affair lasts beyond the weather.

Pam: For ten years, we navigated the ins and outs of three dogs – three BIG dogs. Never again. But I'll never again have only one, either. We just had to find the right fit.

Your enjoying your border collie is great payback for me for your one-time incredulity at my having a sheltie.

Czar: I've never groked to the herding breeds until now. So color Moi corrected. Although, my gosh, what a busy, busy dawg!

As beautiful as it is, its so frustrating. It snowed here in New York the first day of spring! Thankfully its warmer this weekend...the pups are too cute!
