Half Full, Lemonade, Silver Lining, and All That
Recently, the awesome Miss Heather Cherry – distinguished by the fact that she both knows on which side her Louboutin Mary Janes are buckled and she can manage to wrangle hilariousness out of something as mundane as eyebrow tweezing and white gumballs – gave me the above Bloggie Award for showing attitude and/or gratitude or inspiring sweetness in life.
I'm supposed to move this award along to ten other of my most fave bloggers but, really, if you read my blog reading list, all those folks to the left are worthy of this award in some way, so it would be impossible to, uh, cherry pick.
Instead, why don't you leave a comment about what you have done most recently to show some 'tude – either attitude or gratitude – and the result thereof. Did you thank someone for opening the door for you and they rolled their eyes? Did you send a former paramour the entire contents of your cat's litter box for his/her habit of sleeping with every single one of your friends? Did someone say something to you yesterday that made you feel good, that made you think, huh, perhaps I am one of the sharper tools in the shed? Or at least one of the most inoffensive?
Today, I'll be busy house cleaning and crate training a dog. The skies have greyed again, the wind is whipping, and it's supposed to snow. So here I am now; entertain me.

I invented the "Captain Crunch" response to mail solicitations.
When the WWF sends me a postage paid envelope for a contribution, I fill it with Captain Crunch, seal it, then crush the crunch.
It's not nice, I know.
I sent someone a piece of art that I originally bought for myself but seemed to be something she would like (having seen the artwork in her house I'm betting that she likes it) to thank her for the best bloggy weekend ever.
If I could I would send her more sunshine.
I can't think of anything that I have done recently, but I am going to give a shout-out to my momma (pamokc) for some attitude that she tossed out, and I am most proud of her for it...
If you've been reading her blog, then you know that my aunt (her sister) is very sick in ICU. Well, a certain ex-family member has been creeping her way out from under her rock making several appearances at my aunt’s side. And there have been glares and stares between this broom rider and my sweet mother. In the midst of one of these glares, I am most proud of my non-confrontational mother to speak up and declare "I still don't trust you!” catching the broom rider way off guard.
I wish I had been there to see it first hand, but then again, not because I'm not the kind who can bite my tongue and would have stupidly said so much more.
xoxoxo to pamokc. am MOST proud of her.
I take the fifth.... need to check statue of limitations, but my crush on Gnomey just got bigger.
and thanks Shamu!!! I can't wait to see what the "river" is going to deliver soon.
Have a great weekend and good luck with the crate. xoxox. You deserve many awards.
XOXO, Moy! And I love the direction you took this in. Great idear. I experienced some gratitude in lieu of attitude yesterday when I least expected it. I know you can identify with that split-second moment after a person has asked you, "What kind of dog is that?" where you sort of hold your breath and wonder what the reaction will be when you nonchalantly say, "He's an American Pit Bull Terrier," and then the pregnant pause that's actually not so pregnant but it seems so in your head as you wait for the inevitable negative response. However, I have found that this happens to me quite infrequently, which is fantastic. On our walk yesterday a lady in her yard told me what a beautiful dog Snuggles was and proceeded to lavish him with hugs and pets, even after I told her "what he was." Restores my faith a little in humanity and our ability to break down stereotypes. Sorry this was so long! I felt like sharing. :o)
Gnome: Nice? There's no stinkin' "nice" in subversive! But it is pretty freakin' funny.
Shamu: See what the bloggie summit hath wrought? Lots o' love, moving across the country.
kmwthay: Yeah, your mom strikes me as a woman with whom you do not mess!
Boxer: And don't you just giggle yourself silly, imagining him there with the box and the envelope and the satisfied smirk on his face when he sticks the entire mess in the mailbox?
Heather: Yay! There are some folks who get it. The others, well, it's amazing how precious people hold their preconceptions. It's like some people need their little horrors and fears to make sense of the world. But to put them all on a DOG? It's so stupid it would be hysterically funny if it didn't make me want to scream.
Best part...they pay the postage!
"Satisfied smirk," doesn't cover it. More like the smile my 10 year old would get putting a woopie cushion on his mother's chair.
Nice idea Moi.
Did you read the latest post over at Walking Man?
Tough to read, but it certainly transmits his 'tude on the issue.
Snow? Holy moly, it's nearly April.
I don't know if this counts, but I pulled one of the "managers" at the bank aside today to praise One Teller and disparage another. And I'll follow through with a note to put in her (the good one's) HR file.
I usually take the time to fill out in-person or online comment cards when someone is exceptionally helpful or nice.
I invented everything Gnome claims to have invented!
Gnome: Well, there's a reason why you're part of La Revolucion, you know. And it's not for your shoes.
Fishy: I find it incredibly ironic (and not in a good way), that our guberment insists on making all kinds of laws governing what we can eat, drink, sleep with, say, do, and believe. Yet at the same time manages to complete fumble the ball when it comes to issues of domestic violence.
ChefTroll: Snow in April is nothing. We don't fully relax up here at 7,200 feet until end of MAY.
Gorsky: Al, Al, Al. When will you accept the fact that conservative men are, quite simply, more hawt than you lilified libs?
Yeah, it's interesting what people will attach their freak-outs to. I heard recently that some places in Europe have banned Corgis, Border Collies and Goldens, of all things. The sheeple are so in favor of BSL... until it comes for THEIR favorite "good" breed.
Oh Moi...
*dry heaving*
My dad just called me to read an article from today's paper. V*ck was HERE yesterday. In Oklahoma. In my state. On his way to Virginia.
And to think... I was thisclose to getting to introduce his face to one of Snuggles' fresh steaming piles.
HeatherCherry: A vet tech friend of mine says in the 10 years she's worked, the grumpiest dogs they've seen are Golden Retrievers. Vick? Aw, don't worry; he'll be eating dog poop sandwiches in hell soon enough.
Cheers to Heather Cherry and Moi!!
Sorry about the snow--but ya have an open invite down heah--and it is SUNNY !!
Oh I was full of the milk of human kindness yesterday. In Spanish I was paired with the Zero personality geek who guess what doesn't talk at all during a Spanish Conversation Class! How do you communicate with someone who cannot talk English let alone Spanish? Well I tolerated him because I was trapped in the room. Afterwards I had fantasies of crushing his hand in a door so I'm not sure this counts as an altruistic act ....
Aunty: We haven't had a decent snow storm all winter. So when do we get one? End of March. Typical.
Emma: Maybe you should flash him your gams?
