Boxer: I was reading a piece yesterday on how disasters like Sandy reinforce the traditionally liberal assertion that a large federal government is not an intrusion, it's a necessesity. That we, as a society, need a mechanism by which we gather together economically and physically to help those affected by circumstances beyond their control.
Which I'm fine with, especially when those disasters tear apart those lands and landmarks and pieces of infrastructure we hold in common.
But there is a difference between government established to help in a disaster and government tasked with deciding what and how much is the "common good," and what and how much to parcel out for it. And I cannot condone putting forth a figurehead more like a god than a man, in whom we place more belief that we do in ourselves.
Karl: Jewel is quite the excellent singer/songwriter. I like her music a lot and this song especially.

perhaps Gary J could save some souls? I love this song. Never really put it into this context, but it's perfect.
Lucky Seven coming up...... on Halloween too! Can't wait.
Good afternoon Moi,
She has quite a vocal range. It was also interesting to put a face with the voice. This is the first time I've seen her.
As far as souls and politicians, well that's a stretch.
