It's hard to believe Liz Taylor looked that good but I never thought she could act. Newman on the other hand, was a great actor. Look no further than Cool Hand Luke.

I've never seen this movie. I really have to start going back and looking at more of these classics from the 50s and 60s.

Happy MCW!

Oy! She was a beauty. I love her clothes. She'd look hawt in a burlap sack. And HIM!!

Great scene. I just loved seeing them both.

and oh hell, was that a big glass of whiskey? Wowzer.

Happy MCW!

xl: Good eye!

Buzz: Liz was more stylized than realistic, for sure. But what a beauty.

Boxer: That's what I call the perfect 1950s va-voomy bod, built for pencil skirts, fitted button downs, and stiletto pumps.

they are that...gorgeous. I almost used a Newman clip from Hud.

Love her simple tailored attire..nuthin' like a dynamite figure in tailored to fit clothes.

Great clip, Moi.

P.S.

Can anyone tell me why I am unable to leave comments at some blogs, (Boxer's)while others (like Moi's) work fine???

anyone else having this trouble?

Liz & Paul. Wow, what a pair in this movie. I always thought my mom looked a bit like Liz back in the day. Now talk about a life well lived ... both of them, eh? One couldn't keep a spouse, the other had one for life. Interesting. I have to say I never thought she was the best actress either, but dang she had some great roles. Dripping with Southern here.

Aunty: Hud is one of my favorite movies. Newman oozed sexy/menacing and Patricia Neal gave as good as she got.

I have trouble leaving comments on some blogs. I have to save my comment, exit, go back in, and try again. Shamu's site is particularly tough for me. I think it's a Blogger thing?

Pam: I think what's most compelling about Liz Taylor is how she is always so fiercely present on screen. Her approach was never Method, never technical, but, rather, highly stylized, which of course made her a type, but fascinating to watch, nonetheless.

not a good actress? man i was looking at clips from whos afraid of virginia woolf yesterday and i was freaking terrified. nobody fills a dress like young liz and paul newman is a certain kind of hot that i recognize as such, but dont feel it at the core, if you get my drift.

a distant couple and alcohol: classic

great choice. HMCW

Good scene. Good selection. I've never seen this movie, not surprisingly.

Happy MCW!

Chickory: Oh, I think Liz was a great actress, just not by the terms that define it today. I know exactly what you mean about A Place in the Sun! I've seen it a hundred times and each time, I want to kill Shelly Winters myself :o)

Troll: Well, then, podnah, you got some catching up to do!

Awesome choice!
