This post is in response to Aunty's polite request that I publish a photo of myself during my high school punk rock days. I regret to inform her, however, that I have no photos of said phase because, well, my high school days were PDE (pre-digital era) so it's not like everyone was snapping away madly at every single bit of daily life ephemera like they are today. Back then, photo-making was saved for occasions like holidays, weddings, birthdays, etc. And my dearly departed but oh-so-horrified mother was having none of that.
But to give you an idea, for about six months during the latter part of 1979, I was all:
Which is funny to many who know me because since I was a little girl, I have also been all:
And on occasion, all:
Hey, what can I say? Split personalities are for amateurs. Multiple takes skill.
Anyway.
But I can give Aunty an idea of said punk rock phase because I did a modified revisit of the look about 13 years ago. The blond only lasted about 10.8 minutes because if there's anything more difficult than becoming blond, it's staying blond. The cut, though, lasted 4-evah.
Well, at least long enough to totally make S.B., a Southern-Style Alpha Male who liked his wimmin big-haired, think twice about dating Moi. And then think twice some more. But, look! He's still here. Which just goes to show you, the man is a quick study.
Anyway.
I'm thinking of returning to that cut again because it will come in über handy if we climb Kilimanjaro in February. Six days without a shower is bad enough, but if I also start to grow dreadlocks because of it, you may as well shoot me forever. 'cause you all know how I feel about:

OOOOHHH! This is JUICY stuff. Heh. LUV this.
I admires SB fer sloggin' on through to the inner self of our MOI!! Will say, I like the Holly-Golightly version of Moi, but I gits that yore spirit needed to show who's boss--now that is done, so ya can wear them Jimmy Choo stilettos.
AN' hey, what about the La Luz--before Everest, honey, they's La Luz.AN' jes' braid that hair --no dreads needed.
I wish you'd walk wif' me in Espana. Camino de Santiago(I ain't no athlete, jes' dogged, so I'd be a trial to ya.' Consider it fair warnin'.)
ON pre-digital bein' a girl's salvation, lemme jes' say a certain prissy-proper missy in a silk suit wif strings of pearls WOAN be seen on the bloggersphere in a smoky pool hall wif' a cue in her delicate hands.
Oh, an, photo 4--youse got a lovely neck, I'd show it off too!
(I left ya a remark on yore ART post--late in the game.)
Aunty: The Camino de Santiago tour looks like a blast. I picture: Hermes scarves and over-sized D&G sunglasses to go with the hiking shoes, no? I mean, yes, I'm there! And, yes, there is lots to be thankful for regarding a lack of photographic evidence. Although pearls in a pool hall, I would like to see that.
Oh Chile, chile! Heh...late May 2009? (take me that long ter treadmill this package in shape.) I Am So There.
(Honey, ya can style me any day! Hermes, yes, but can we trade the D&fer Silhouettes cause they weighs jes' half an once. As they say "you'll be sawin' off the end of yore toothbrush to lighten yore load by the end of the first day.")
Cool. We're going to have a BABE for president!
That was YOU, then? Love, love the short "do" and the bleachy-blonde thing you were rockin'. I was a hippie in 1979 - pigtails and overalls. It wasn't fashionable then either, was it? (I thought so.)
I used to box with a woman who wore pearls during her workouts. I asked her once why she didn't remove them for class. She looked at me horrified and said "A lady never removes her pearls" and then SMACKED me hard.
there is no way in hell I will be able to find photos of myself in my punk rock days.
no way at all. they're all old. and I have no scanner.
But you look HAWT! I had a cambodian cut myself, but I had long bits at the back, and at the front, and on the side. I were a chile of the 80's.
iamnot: You should see my Presidential Posse: über babes, every one. All part of the master plan for whirled domination and free candy.
AB: Pearls while sweating is a bit much, but I grok to the overall sentiment. I wore pigtails for much of my childhood, which perhaps accounts for my later aversion to hippiehood. Although I do remember some broom skirts in there somewhere . . .
Pirate: A Cambodian cut – awesome! I knew you had punk in your background, just knew it.
The punk rock phase i was fortunate enough to have missed. The trekkie phase? My family calls it a phase. To me it's a way of life. I love, love, love being a trekkie. You should see some of my vests!
Really like the blond crew cut.
yeah you look great in that buzz cut. takes a good face and body to carry that, as well as a strong sense of self and security.
ive never done anything radical to my hair. its been essentially the same forever with a tweak in cut and/or highlights here and there. ive wanted to dye it red now and then but always chickened out in the end.
i did wear platforms in the 70's and continue to do so. my favorite shoes are my platform suede boots with a chunky heel. i.love.them. i hate summer because i cant be with them. grrrerhahaha i also like flared jeans and do not understand straight legs.
but i realize as i write this im a fashion rut victim. i have a uniform. somebody should do one of those interventions on me. grrherhaha
youre a cutie moi!
but! as icelands ambassador i can wear "gear" everyday. lots of it. i belong in cool climates. i hate sandals and love coats so.....
vote for moi!!!
I never got to do an era. Missed the Beats, to young for the hippies, and to old for punk movement. I think I would have made a good Beat though.
Upset: No shit? You got Spock ears to go along with that? I've always wanted some Spock ears.
She: Moi's Fashion Directive #345: Platforms NEVER got out of style. And you and Bjork? Doors blown off the fashion world, for sure.
Phosgene: How 'bout disco?
what's this? another polish crested? what IS it with this site? mo -hawk? mo-rooster if ya ask me. i see later you adopted the smart syling of lean english hen. nice coloration too -much like my own.
when i was a wee pullet i had a darker plumage and kept my comb and wattle quite red...but after four hard years of laying im tired, frankly. i no longer want to bring attention to my self...the pressure have having to produce all the time.
what was this post about again?

You genius, you. I'm cross stitching that on a pillow.
You look HOT with that short blonde "do" Moi. Not many women could pull that off and still manage to look sexy. No wonder SB had to succumb in the end.
Mean Dovey: Niiiicce birdy. Now, back away from the computer.
Wicked: Join me, won't you?
Gypsy: Thanks for the compliment. However, I have a sneaking suspicion S.B. gave in in the end because I'm armed.
Oh, honey, I joined in on that a looong time ago. I rotate people in and out of my head like you rotate your shoe collection. Very glad to have your company, though.
Your hair might start to self-clean that long without a bottle of shampoo!
De-tangle combs are good.
