Glitter on the Front Porch, Glitter on the Hallway

I have loved the B-52's since my best high school buddy introduced me to them in my junior year. First of all, there was that innovative sound - an effervescent concoction that melded New Wave, surf punk, and rockabilly into something so irresistible, that feet everywhere, across the universe and beyond, couldn't help but get up and dance. Secondly, they looked simply fabulous.

In fact, to this day, lead singer Kate Pierson stands as one of my fashion icons, proving, along with Debbie Harry and Stevie Nicks, that instead of ravaging your looks, the rock and roll lifestyle can in some instances render you ageless.

The gal just turned sixty, y'all. Respect.

sixty is the age of my mother. she's cool enough to be a B-52, but it's not the same.

Respek, yo!! I heart the B-52's !!!

I am not for a moment saying I have good taste in music...but the B-52s are one of the few bands who I immediately switch off if they come on. They really give me a headache......She does look cool though at 60. respect.

Big Respect. "Dance this Mess Around" is on the CD I just burned.

I think the other chick sings lead on that one, but what the heck. She's prolly nearly 60 too.

The complete list of good things that came out of Athens Georgia:

Pirate: Well, Kate doesn't run 10ks like your mom!

emmak: My aural threshold is crossed at Evanescence. Octave range, schmotave range. Amy Lee's voice makes me want to kill small animals.

Troll: 2. Widespread Panic.

I have vivid memories of Rock Lobster and that song would pack out the dance floor EVERY time without fail. She looks WICKED for a 60 year old. Hell she doesn't even look 50.

Have always loved Stevie Nicks' fashion sense back in the 70's. Every boy I knew was so in love with her - well it was High School....

Hey, I'd split a social security check with her any day.

She is a beauty, yah. My tolerance is low for the B's, but I can always enjoy muting the TV and just watching those gals' hair. Love their style.

We need MORE cool 60 year olds!

I'm fed up with so many disappearing off our screens and music scenes, particularly in Britain.

But those of us of tenderer years WANT people further along the line to look up to and be inspired by. How can fashion and celeb media think otherwise?

They are so WRONG in their assumptions.
