Very cool and unique stuff. I can't tell if some of them are paintings or photos of 3 dimensional thingies or what.

Happy Mute Monday!

Artfulsub: My mother did the cross stitch, a Hungarian folk design that indeed resembles our Southwestern motifs. The wall hanging is a Zimbabwean story quilt I purchased at the International Folk Art show in Santa Fe last year. The rug is Navajo, the lithograph is by Francis X. Pavy, a New Orleans artist. The mixed media piece is by a local gal. All things in my own home. I'm koo koo for color.

She: The first and last paintings are my father’s, actually.

Love the cookie idea! I would go with a sugar cookie recipe for sure, and use royal icing dyed snow white and black to do cool sculptural things with it to create the “fur.” I haven’t worked with royal icing in years, but there are some good recipes on-line and you should also be able to purchase it in tubes or tubs from your local craft store, like a Hobby Lobby or Michael's. Good luck and take photos!

I love Mute Monday. I really, really, really love it. I want to be mute today. I don't want to talk to anyone but me, myself and I. And yet I can't seem to *stop* talking...

no wonder i recognized the work! your dad! what is it? oil or acrylic or something else? is it his profession?

tubs of royal icing? i cant! the rules are it must be from scratch. my husband bought a roll of dough from a hootie tootie bakery for me to use ...thats not sporting! anyway...i just bought a ton of supplies and will try thursday next's recipe and make the icing...for the poodles i put lots of dots. usually something with a lot of stuff wins...chips and nuts and stuff. but i like imagery dammit!

the buy in is $20. depending on how many cookie makers, the pot could get tasty. last year it was 260. the consolation is i will take home a variety of cookies!

Raven: Hey, a Homegirl! Nice of you to drop by.

orange: You're slowly reentering the Bloggie world, I see. I'm glad YOU weren't mute this Monday!

Thistle: Hmmm . . . I'm thinking something you could instigate with your chillruns?

Pirate: Nooooo! Ever'body's sick, huh? So, so sorry. Get better now!

Milf: Yeah, that tile is really special. Thanks for the comment!

She: That makes sense. Hmmm . . . If I come up with something spectacular in the next 12 hours, I'll let cha know. My dad paints almost exclusively in oils. Has done so most of his adult life. Has a minor following here in NM. But it's not his "profession." Although I think he's phenomenally talented, he sort of languishes in "outsider" land.

Aunty and Boxer: Thanks, y'all!
