Personally, I don't think anything's ever gonna beat the Israelis dropping a missile on the dude in the wheelchair. Talk about a wake-up call.

Czar: I need a You Tube video of that shit! Get on it, won't you?

Oh now, tsk, tsk, what's a little death by drone ? Bunch of whiners....I mean, ya' know, it could a been WATERBOARDING, for pete's sake.

Aunty: I addressed the water boarding issue on my Facebook page (funny, put up photos of puppies, all friends flock; post something of real importance, crickets chirp). Water boarding--like everything else involved in war--is too personal and upsetting. No operative or soldier comes away without some form of scar or trauma from what they see, hear, smell, experience in conflict. But a drone strike? How beautifully convenient! Perfect for our brave new tyrants for whom messy hands--not to mention consciences--are totally unacceptable.

Technology definitely can desensitize war or contitutional violations. Although truth be told, the couple of "Americans" that were whacked really weren't Americans.

A lot of people (certain news outlets, congressman, etc.) on the left were very vocal about waterboarding but seem OK with assasinations.

What a mess this country is in? Every day it's something else. Wait until sequestration happens - that'll be a lot of fun.

Yep, FB is not fer reality based thinking. Jes' a touch base moment. Which, (ahem!) is why blogging has value-- could have, if we jes' respect a free exchange of ideas.

Jes' for a chuckle, note than that fawning member of the Obama Blubber,Andrew Sullivan, ripped on this overstep:

But the equation obviously shifts when it comes to an American citizen fighting for the enemy and not in an emergency. And it shifts again when the battlefield remains defined as anywhere in the world, including the US, and when the window of opportunity is much, much wider because the war has been defined as permanent. This means that there is no time-limit on this power – say, the conclusion of hostilities with a treaty. And look: treasonous citizens can and have been executed (the Communist traitors, the Rosenbergs rightly were). But even suspected traitors are entitled to due process. And due process seems to have gone out the window in this case.

Buzz: Yes, I'm beginning to take the tactic of shrugging my shoulders, buying popcorn, and sitting back for the ride.

Aunty: Sullivan is an interesting creature. He claims on the one hand to be an old-fashioned Conservative (not to mention devoutly Catholic and staunchly anti-Islam) but all he's been doing since Obama's been elected is kiss his ass, mainly because of that stupid health care bill. So I'm glad to hear he came to his senses in at least this case.

But did you hear Karl Rove "God Bless Mr. Obama" for this? Now THAT'S freaking freaky.

Aunty Belle said...

Oh Sullivan is ham. Ain't nuthin' Catholic 'bout the fella but his baptismal certificate. It's like sayin' youse a loyal American when youse a member of the communist party, fer him to claim he is conservative or Catholic. But ROVE?? Huh? what gives?

New front porch post, btw. You'll laugh.

Good morning Moi,

I'd be willing to bet, the first time this happens on US soil. The strike will be on a media hyped killer like Christopher Dorner. thus paving the way for normalizing operations, "to protect the public."
