It's quotes like that, that make this:
The literary event of the year.
So, tell Moi: What's your favorite Mark Twain quote?

"All you need is ignorance and confidence and the success is sure."
Speaking of which, how did you do on the run today? Did S.B. manage to lift more than just one of your cars? Did he lift you into a 10:30 mile?
Boxer: Good one! As for the race: almost! Had it not been for red hot pokers stabbing into my feet starting at mile 7, I would have made 10:30 even. But I still managed 2 hours 19, minutes at a 10:35 minute mile pace. WOOT! Twenty minutes faster than last year!
WhOOOOHHOOOOO, way to go Moi.
I thought he was the one who said that "No man's life, liberty or property is safe with the legislature is in session." But I searched for that quote and it is attributed to someone else.
"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not."
Ain't that the truth
And for the Madman:
"Golf is a good walk spoiled."
" When you fish for love,
Bait with your heart,
Not with your brain"
Congratulations on the half marathon, I think you rocked it!
Shamu: You mean Twain congratulated me from the grave? :o)
Pam: That's okay; Twain has plenty of anti-gooberment quotes over which to chuckle.
Buzz: I take it you don't golf?
Fishy: Haven't heard that one; very nice. And, thanks!
I should've clicked the link on your previous post. I thought the race was next weekend. Still you did well. Congratulations!
"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first."
well done super stud lady - I hope you are proud of yourself!!
everything mark twain was ever quoted to have said seems beautifully laden with meaning. I love him so.
the quote that never fails to crack me up:
"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."
do you think we can use that? How about as a tag line?
Did you buy the book? I don't know many of his quotes without looking them up but one I like and experienced first hand is: The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.
I could totally relate! I Had my purple fake fur on in the morning on fine San Francisco morning in June, by the afternoon, I was sunburned!
PS: Glad you are improving your running times, congrats, Moi.
Karl: And the world will be here a long time after we are gone.
Pirate: I love that quote! I use it all the time.
La Diva: I'm picking the book up tomorrow. And, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only person who has a Jones for fake fur :o)
