Mute Monday: Valentine's Day

You took a white orchid turned it blue.

Why won't you dance with me? I'm not no Limburger.

You're such a wonderful person; but you got problems.

What some call love? Well, that's like hypnotizing chickens.

I told you from the start just how this would end.
When I get what I want and I never want it again.

I might like you better if we slept together.

I dare not drown my sorrow in the warm glow of your wine.

You're perfect, yes it's true. But without me, you're only you.

Throw down your umbilical noose, so I can climb right back.

In honor of this V-D week; what's your favorite anti-love song?

  2. Velly creative. I suspected "lounge act" and "heart-shaped-box" and "all apologies" were Kurt Cobain's way of asking "Why did I marry that talentless crack whore?" I've heard rumors that the next album was to be called "Smells Like that Crack Whore I stupidly Married".

But I never read the lyrics til just now. Sad stuff.

And "Dance this Mess Around" is my fave 52s B-side and I salute MOI for finding it.

But I'm voting for "Nookie" cause it's more straightforward.

    Happy Mute Monday and V-Day!

  4. Kate: Sittin' in a tree! Blue-eyed soul, indeed . . .

Troll: Oh no, no, no, no, no. Courtney not talentless. Although, yes, Heart Shaped Box is one of the greatest, saddest, love/hate songs evah. But Limp Bizkit? Dude, that's so wrong.

AB: Hey, I know: Dusty For President!

  13. I rescind my earlier vote cause 99.9% of what they've done is putrid. I can't think of one to replace it.

  14. Raven: Ouch! That one bites.

Gypsy: I know, I want that lyric on a tee shirt.

She: The entire album is chock full of brilliant stingers. I think I need to gift it to Troll :o)

Slip: Hey, thanks for dropping by! Jack White is one of Moi's imaginary five bazillion extra husbands. (She, I hear you cringing. Stop it.)

SilentPorn: Long Live Dusty. Voice like honey.

Atllg: Ah, you go full out, arena rock for your misery, then?

iamnot: Now that'll send Moi off to iTunes this a.m.!

Troll: Good boy. I simply do not want to have to virtualy beat you about the head for your musical taste. Also: see She's comment above.

  18. I think you know my recent picks for Songs That Aren't About Love. :-) Anti-Love songs, though, hmmm...well, how can you go wrong with that old classic, Love Stinks?? It's heartfelt. And simple. And easy to remember the words.

  19. It's got to be The Pogues and Kirsty Macoll - Fairytale of New York. Very much in second place comes 'Music when the Lights Go Out' by The Libertines - OK they can neither sing nor play, but that song is catchy!
