Faithful feathered friend—
chopped, plucked, garlic-stuffed. Sunday's
sacrificial lamb.

Our Chicken Hypnotizer Extraordinaire, Chickory, is hosting Haiku Monday today at her blog today. Check it out. Fun most fowl. And a prize most awesome.

  2. delightful. great pairing of imagery and a truism of sunday dinner -not supper though. my neighbor had made me understand the distinction. supper is night. dinner is lunch. lunch on sunday only though.

still working on that "country" vernacular.

Good Luck Moi and happy HM>

  3. I like that there's not a drop of food on her. That in itself is amazing.

  15. Thanks for your well wishes, everyone! Master Basho, I especially like the haiku. And find it funny that once again, the weather on my birthday is stormy. It's been that way without fail and for as long as I can remember. If it's sunny and 80 degrees on April 25th, no worries. Just wait 24 hours and you can go skiing.

  19. Kym: That made me throw up in my mouth a little. Thanks!

Fleurdeleo: I'm stunned, really, but happy because the prize is a very special one. Thanks as well, because you're a contenda to reckon with!

Foam: Actually, it's still my birthday, but the win makes one year older easier to bear. Yours was one of my favorites. The poop line is priceless. Funny, how some people just have a way with critters, isn't it?

  20. Congrats on the winning haiku, a very suitable birthday pressie! Happy happy to you! I loved the visual also. Where can I get a 1950's housewife for my own housekeeping opportunities?

  21. The photo makes this haiku even more awesome. Poor chickens, subject to poetry before death. It's kind of like Edgar Alan Poe.

  22. Boxer: Yay!

Pam: I have long wondered that myself. A houseboy would be fine, too.
