Day 17 of the Hole: Portrait of a Frankentoe

Hey, Pam asked. Kind of grody, no? As you can see, it's swollen and the incision site is healing unevenly. Nice and pencil thin along the right and very far left side. Top of the toe, not so much. But it'll get there.

I'm feeling awfully tender towards my toe today, almost affectionate. It reminds me in many ways of my Junker Jane doll, Edwina, who is similarly patch-worked in her visage. Edwina does the best she can, too.

Oh, and I'm up at Undaunted Baker with a new post, although you may want to wait a while after that before visiting.

  1. Frankentoe - that's pretty cool. Dudes dig scars on their women - mostly biker and NASCAR dudes.

    LOL!!!

I think the doll may be more groady than yore toe, Moi, Cherie. Mercy--hope it feels better'n it looks.

Strong stomach, so I'se headed to UB.

  3. Buzz: Mmmmm . . . my favorite kind. NOT. Well, NASCAR maybe, if they come with southern accent and don't dip. But biker dudes definitely not. Not unless it's a vintage 1970s BSA and . . . oh, never mind.

Aunty: Oh, I love my Junker Jane! She's so sweet and tugs my heart strings so!

  4. Awwww, I bet it is healing nicely. Isn't it amazing though, how the smaller appendages hurt the most? Ack! Love the doll also. You might be interested in another one of my internet friend's creations .... Zombie Dolls. These might be right down your alley actually. http://dlm.weebly.com/dolls.html

  5. Pam: Oh, oh, the conjoined twins and the arrow-shot Valentine's Dolls are brilliant!

The toes, I am told, are the worst. They get the least amount of circulation, so I prop this puppy up and move it around as much as possible, but my doc told me to expect swelling for "months." Or, we could shoot it with some cortisone. He'll decide at the next visit, mid April. So long as I'm running end of the month and in a heel by June, I'll be fine with whatever.

  6. well, let me first say ..
that's some magnificent color on those tootsies of yours. i don't think frankentoe looks that bad. the scar matches the red nailpolish.
    that's one beautiful doll, btw.

  7. Foam: That's Chanel Nail Color in 475 Dragon, a perfect red for toes. Thank you for your kind word about Edwina. I think she's beautiful, too. I know she's just a doll, but the first time I laid eyes on her, I felt instantly, weirdly protective of her, almost maternal.

  8. Junker Jane!!! An entire blog could be devoted to her.

Your toe is healing nicely? Minimal scarring?

According to Buzz, I guess it doesn't really matter!

  9. Damnit, Moi, you need to have some kind of warning label or put text first or something.

Although you've given me a good idea for what to do right after I go for that lobotomy I've been pricing. . . .

  10. I have to say I was admiring the nail color as well! Healing just takes time, please do not rush ANYTHING. Setbacks are no good. Health most important.

  11. Boxer: Well, it's not an awfully hip scar, like I got it in a bar fending off a marauding horde of democrats or anything. Junker Jane's having another show in Sante Fe in a month. I think I'll go to the opening. But leave my wallet at home :o)

Czar: A wee bit squeamy, are we? I don't think lobotomies leave scars, or are you talking about war paint?

Pam: Right. It was extra irritated yesterday, so I treated it nicely and didn't walk the dogs this morning. It feels much better. I think today is a sofa-surfing day.
