For Boxer

Just because. She's also the only person I know who shares this particular one of my obsessions. If you do, too, raise your hand.

"nobody hipped me to that, Dude"

So many great lines/etc. in such a short clip.

Yes, he's our little secret, pal, or he was until now! :-)

  2. Awesome!! I was "big shoe dancing" on New Year's Eve and the Butte Girl was pretending she didn't know me. "I hope you find your bike man" followed by a great wipeout.

  3. OMG! Put me on that list of yours. I remember not knowing much about him way back when and went to see Pee Wee's Big Adventure (movie) with some friends in a packed theater. I was the ONLY one laughing. And I mean I was fall on the floor laughing. The ONLY ONE who was getting it. Poor PeeWee, just couldn't keep his hands to himself. Oh wait, that's what he got in trouble for! Meanwhile, he does turn up on occasion, maybe more big adventures for him one day.

TEQUILA! (I know you are but what am i?)

  5. Yay! Pam is on our list.

The only bad thing Pee Wee did was put his hands on HIMSELF in a public place. To which I say,

    "I meant to do that!"

  6. Boxer: Wanna take bets on which of us says that to a client first?

Milk: You're one of Us? Cool! That movie is on my top 10 greatest flicks ev-ah list.

Pam: Yay, Pam! I haven't laughed so hard since Buster Keaton's The General. Comedic gene-e-us.

Haiku: I know you want to come on over here to the Pee Wee side. I just KNOW it.

Boxer: Excuuuuuuuuuze me! I'm trying to use the phone!

  7. I'M TRYING TO USE THE PHONE!

This movie is the first time I can remember ever hearing this song because it really became a hit afterwards. The song was written in 1958 by the Champs who later featured - Glen Campbell.

And if you ever look up the lyrics, this is what you get:

    Lyrics to Tequila :
    (instrumental)
    Tequila

    (instrumental)
    Tequila

    (instrumental)
    Tequila!

  14. My hand is raised!!! Watched the movie with hubby (for the first time!) over Chrissy. Obviously not the first time for La Diva, I used to watch his Sat. morning playhouse show.

Whenever he was in town, he used to go to this fabu toy store in Chicago that sold all kinds of cool vintage toys, tin wind up ones, like the ones in the magic shop. They sell this tiny harmonica called the Pee Wee, it's about an inch long. That's where he got his name from. Naturally, I have one...somewhere in my drawer that I bought years ago from the toy store.

And this leads to another story....I had my Pee Wee harmonica on me when Sugar Blue walked out of Kingston Mines Blues Club. He's a cool harp player and used to wear his harps in a bandolier across his chest. I saw him and naturally started to play my Pee Wee and he looked around to see who it was. I laughed and said "It's me! And my Pee Wee!" He started cracking up and said "You're pretty good!" I showed it to him and he just lost it. My friends still tell that story, it was pretty funny. He liked my little pee wee! haha! Thanks Moi!!!

  15. I saw PeeWee Herman perform before any of y'all did. On the television classic "The Gong Show".

He held his hand over candles and sang the Do-Re-Mi scale. And won.

Has there ever been more genuis in one room than when PeeWee, Chuck Barris and Jaye P Morgan were together?

    I. Think. Not.

  17. Chickory: That seals it. I'm going as Pee Wee next year. S.B. can be Cowboy Curtis.

La Diva: No way; that's a great story! We have GOT to hang out some time.

Troll: OMG, I think you're right. That show is coming back to me now. I haven't thought about Jaye P for years – that shag! Those sunglasses! So 70's.

Perhaps I shall have a Tequila ring tone for spontaneous moments of Spring break out dancing.

  22. I found PeeWee on the Gong Show clips. Including one where he does an early version of "The Dance".

Also, Oingo Boingo was on at least once. They were "The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo" then. Guess they changed it because of the KKK connection.

  24. Shamu: I highly recommend spontaneous outbreaks of dancing. Especially in this weather.

    Boxer: Dottie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCJmX-HXrrs
    One of my favorite singers.

Aunty: Pee Wee will do that to ya.

Gnome: Fan/obsession. I kinda blur the lines.

MJ: Right on! House boys, too?

Troll: My, you're the pop cultural detective this week, aren't you?
